Select Inventory
The Gem Shop and Diamond Source is primarily a "Bricks & Mortar" Business.
This means that the website is used as a means of introducing ourselves, in a
manner that is convenient for you. As such, it is impossible to show our
complete, or even much of a partial inventory. Simply put, here are a few
pieces which we are exceptionally proud of. All are, of course, subject to
prior sale. You may wish to call the number on our home page to check on the
availability of any particular item(s).
As yet, and into the foreseeable future, these items cannot be purchased
online, only by telephone. For now just give us a call if you want something
you see here, you may of course, still pay by credit card over the phone. We
appologize for this inconvienience.
Page one, Estate Pieces
Some of what we carry are interesting Estate and pre-owned pieces such as the
turn of the century "Flapper" purses shown here:
(above)
This superbly crafted and exceptionally rare piece is made from 6-1/2 ounces
of 18K Gold! (201.34 Grams to be precise) It is approximately 100 years old
and has numerous Hallmarks indicating it originated in France. We located
one other that was comparable and was priced at $12,000.00 A highly
collectible purse from a bygone era, ours is an even $10,000.00

This Flapper Purse is hand beaded. It has a Sterling Silver top and chain
with an ornate pierced Double Dragon Design. It is in excellent condition
and is very unusual. Engraved with the date of 1902. Priced at $3,750.00

This one is neither silver, nor gold, but is also in excellent shape and is
very representative of the style of it's era. This is the only one we've
seen with the elaborate enamel airbrushing, depicting a symmetrical flower
pattern in shades of burnt orange. No image wear. Priced at $3,750.00

This is one of the most highly prized and collectible pocket watches we have
ever had. This piece is around 200 years old and is a type of "Fusee" called
a "Repeater." Simply put, in an era before lighted dials, it was very
desireable to be able to tell time at night. This watch strikes the hour and
each quarter hour thereafter, when the stem is depressed, using internal
bells so that the owner would always be on time. It was painstakingly hand
made, with an 18K gold case.

The elaborately decorated movement of this watch is the same type of
mechanism that was designed by Leonardo DaVinci, it uses an extremely fine
chain, to transfer power, which took close to a year to create by it's self.
It has been said that owning such a time piece in its day was similar to the
prestige associated with LearJet ownership today.

A sun ray pattern adorns the back, which has never been engraved with a
monogram, a fact not lost on collectors who much prefer it this way.
Completely functional and conservatively priced at $1,750.00 Not for daily
use. Call for further details.

Still More Fusee Pocket watches from up to 200 years ago. These are all in
more ordinary cases (German Silver, Coin Silver, and Tortoise Shell), and
while they have somewhat more elaborately decorated movements, these are not
Repeaters. Variously priced, many are functional. We also carry a few more
common, American pocket watches, from a hundred years past or so.

A handful of vintage wrist watches, some from our private collection, some
for sale. Many in 14K gold. Many more than shown.

Click photo for a larger image with scroll bars. We carry a large number of Filigree rings from the teens to the thirties and
beyond. Those shown here have Diamonds, Sapphires, Amethyst, Synthetic
rubies, and Cameos. We inspect our Estate pieces very carefully. Many times
in our buying, pieces are found which have been worn against another ring.
When this occurs, the other ring can wear into the edges of the filigree.
Such pieces are simply scrapped. You can be assured of a quality piece of
jewelry when selecting from our inventory. All are Gold, mostly 14K. All
are reasonably priced, the items shown here start at just $72.00 Many more
items on hand than shown.
